Lido Love was a one off arts event held in London Fields outdoor public swimming pool. We tried to create a link between the Lido’s past as a squatted rave venue with its present as centre for physical fitness and well-being by turning the changing rooms into a “cardioke shower rave” where people were invited to sing karaoke versions of 90’s club classics while running on a cross trainer in a shower stall in an attempt to mimic the drug induced euphoric states associated with rave culture by way of the natural release of endorphins through exercise and uninhibited performance. UV light cannons, shower heads outfitted with lasers and smoke machines were used to further simulate the idea of a shower rave.
